Meghalaya Actvities

Meghalaya senior citizens health camp was held on 29th April 2017 in  Nongumlong Village.

 

Ageing is the process that requires ongoing adaptation to compensate for the losses that are imposed on human beings from the outside world and the internal physiological changes that occur with the passage of time. This has an impact on  physical activities, emotional state, fatigue, digestive and elimination processes and habitual rest activity cycle.

Keeping this in mind and with an aim to improve the quality of life of the elderly, the Sandavella Senior Citizen Health Care Services of Meghalaya decided to organize a Free Health Camp.

The Camp took place in the outskirts of the city at Nongumlong Village Upper Shillong Meghalaya on the 29th of April 2017.

Eleven staffs ( Two Doctors, Two Dental Surgeons, Staff Nurse, Pharmacist, Lab Technician, Two Laboratory Asssistants and an Occupational therapist) arrived around 8:30 am with spontaneous energy and enthusiasm among them. The Camp began with a few minutes of speech given by Dr S.S Nongbri who explained about the purpose and aim of the Health Camp and the importance of caring for health of the elderly.. As the day went on, more and more people started attending the Camp and were provided with free Medical Check up, Medicines, Blood test (Hb and RBS), free Consultation on proper health and hygiene as well as Therapeutic approach on how to improve their physical and mental health by introducing various techniques of exercises for increasing strength, balance, gait and posture and also improving cognitive ability too. At the end of the day almost Two hundred and twenty two (222) patients were seen,  out of which nine (9) female patients who were above sixty years of age.

This was the initial movement of the Sandavella Senior Citizen Health Care Services of Meghalaya towards a better living of the elderly along with the hope that there would be tremendous outcome ahead along with your support.
